At the Tuolumne County Publich Heath Department our staff of committed, caring professionals provide essential services to protect your health. Fulfilling the preventative health care needs of all age groups, our services are provided without discrimination to all individuals regardless of race, color, creed or economic status.
Our office is open Monday – Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm closed from 12:00pm – 1:00pm for lunch.
Services and Programs Offered:
Child Health & Disability Prevention (CHDP): 533-7414
Health, dental check ups and immunization. Periodic check ups for children (0-21 yrs) with Medi-Cal / low to middle income eligible families.
Women, Infants and Children (WIC): 533-7431
WIC is a supplemental food and nutrition program for women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or postpartum, infants, and children under age five. WIC provides nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion, medical care and other referrals, and specific nutritious food coupons.
California Children’s Services (CCS): 533-7404
CCS is a program for children ages 0-21 diagnosed with certain physical disabling medical conditions. CCS can be used to supplement Medi-Cal and other medical insurance to provide specialized medical care and rehabilitation.
Lead Poisoning: 533-7414
Offers material on lead poisoning and referrals for testing. Don’t wait! Help protect your child!
Target Case Management (TCM): 533-7412
A PHN makes home visits to referred families. Visit includes:health and psychosocial assessment, resource and referral, health and life skills teaching, access to services, transportation assistance. PHN acts like a liaison with providers and community agencies.
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS):
Public Health offers visits to families who have had an infant die of sids.
Emergency Preparedness (E.P.): 533-7427
This program helps prepare Tuolumne County for disastres and health emergencyies, and includes emergency response planning, drills and exercises in collaboration with other community and state agencies.

The health van travels to schools withing Tuolumne County, usually visiting two schools each day, and provides many types of medical services and resources to students. For health questions, please call or email us.
Tobacco Prevention and Education Program: 533-7419
This program provides a comprehensive approch to prevetion, education, quit smoking and chewing stratigies with a special focus on youth.
Keep Baby Safe (KBS) Child Car Seat Program: 533-7464
KBS works in the community by helping to prevent injury and disability cased by improper child car seat use.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS): 533-7460
EMS agency provides oversight of first responders, EMTs, Paramedics, Mobil Intensive Care Nurses (MICN) and flight nurses. The EMS agency is responsible for maintaing efficient emergency medical services for Tuolumne County.
Clinic Services: 533-7401
Free or low cost services for income eligible clinets. Medi-Cal, CMSP, FPACT accepted. Most services require an appointment. Please call for day and time.
Offering services in:
- Family Planning – Including contraception, education and counseling, free birth control method of choice; STD testing & treatment.
- Cancer Detection Program (CDP) – Free ZBreast and Cervical Cancer screening for age andf income eligible women. Breast Cancer treatment is included in screening.
- Immunization – Disease preventable vaccinations for adults and children
- Tuberculosis (TB) – (TB) Chest Clinic is held the second Tuesday of every other month. There is a nominal fee for the skin test. Medi-Cal is accepted.
- Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV/AIDS) – ConfidentialHIV antibody testing. Offered by appointment only. Same day results.
HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention:
A state funded program to provide outreach and education on HIV/AIDS prevention and risky behavior modifaction.
Maternal Child & Adolescent Health:
Works and collaborates toward: healthy babies born to healthy moms, no health status disparities, a safe and healthy envirroment for women, children and their families.
