Camping Women came into being in 1977 as a nonprofit, educational and service organization for women 18 and over. The two founders, who had many years of experience in Girl Scout camping, knew how Scouting had helped girls and adults learn about and enjoy the out-of-doors, and wished for a similar organization for adult women. This wish has evolved into a volunteer organization with a national board of directors, local chapters, national and chapter camping events, service projects and the participation of over 2000 interested members in the last 24 years.Sierra Foothills Chapter of Camping Women(Serving Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties, California)The Sierra Foothills chapter has many outdoor activities planned and in the planning stages.
